Abstract

2009 marked the beginning of a pioneer project in Portugal, resulting in a partnership between Sport Lisboa e Benfica and the company Argo | Art, Heritage & Culture, in what was the first endeavor between sports and heritage in the country. As a part of the strategic planning of the club, there has been a series of actions undertaken, related to conservation, restoration and the creation of a department, responsible for managing the collection. The Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM) has distinguished the work already done with the award “Best Conservation and Restoration Intervention of 2011”, highlighting the initiative and the integrated vision of the project.
