Noção de "Pessoa" como conceito-chave no Encontro das Culturas: uma revisão da abordagem recente da filosofia analítica

Resumo

A questão do encontro de culturas, na ausência de uma ideia definida de pessoa, arrisca-se a permanecer como pura interrogação e tão problemática como toda a metafísica–o que não nos dispensa de procurar a resposta. Parece necessário desenterrar as raízes na base desta perplexidade e alargar o âmbito do nosso horizonte, por isso começamos por recordar como a questão nasce com o projecto moderno e a ânsia de transformar a filosofia numa ciência rigorosa, um esforço que trazia consigo as sementes da dissolução "pós-moderna". Neste ensaio argumentamos que as noções de "natureza" e "pessoa" não podem ser facilmente descartadas na exploração da questão do encontro cultural, mas que a via privilegiada é o exame das "opiniões" ou ideias e uma filosofia que preserve a heterogeneidade noética, pois o espartilho "cientifista" empobreceu a questão que só pode ser resgatada com recurso à história das ideias. Sugerimos que a noção de pessoa como sujeito da cultura se define pelas escolhas de um animal dependente, um problema historicamente rico.
