The journal Gestão e Desenvolvimento is published by the Instituto de Gestão e das Organizações da Saúde, Centro Regional de Viseu, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, is an annually journal and may publish special issues. The languages of publication are Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

Objectives

Disseminate scientific knowledge produced in the field of social sciences, as well as health sciences, education and social development.

Promote the disclosure of research in various scientific areas, facilitating the sharing of knowledge.

Provide a means of communication between academics, experts and professionals.

Structure

The structure of the journal Gestão e Desenvolvimento consists of a main body of scientific articles, which may have different typologies: Research, Review, Theoretical or Essay, and may also have Editorials and Recensions.

Refereeing Process

The Referees of the Journal are Portuguese and foreign academic and scientific personalities, of recognized merit in the areas of publication, being selected by the Executive Editorial Committee, either permanently or temporarily.

The Referees appreciate the proposed articles and prepare scientific opinions, paying special attention to the following criteria: relevance to the development of the scientific area, originality, formulation and verification of the objectives, methodology, analysis and discussion of results, relevance of the conclusions, updated bibliography and compliance with APA norms, general quality and adequacy to the editorial policy and Journal regulations.

Proposed articles are reviewed by two or more reviewers anonymously using the quality assessment criteria defined above within a maximum period of one month and are classified into four levels: 1 - publish article, unchanged, 2 - publish article with some changes, 3 - publish the article with changes, subject to further review by the referee; 4 - Do not publish the article.

Authors receive the Referee's decision and an anonymous opinion with their comments, having 30 days to submit a new version of the article when required.

Open Access Policy

The journal offers immediate Open Access to its content (Creative Common CC BY License). Journal allow readers to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of its articles and allow readers to use them for any other lawful purpose.

Editorial Committee

The journal has i) an Executive Editorial Committee, composed by its Director and other members identified in each issue of the Journal, responsible for the coordination and ii) an Enlarged Editorial Committee responsible for the refereeing process of articles, also identified in each issue of the Journal.

The Executive Editorial Committee conducts the journal scientific management: editorial policy, ensuring quality standards and evaluation criteria of proposed articles, setting editorial guidance for special editions, setting and approving the Journal Referees, promoting the participation of authors and the disclosure of the Journal and to pronounce on other issues not related to these bylaws.
