Desenvolvimento da cognição numérica: uma relação entre cérebro e cultura

Resumo

Nos últimos anos temos assistido a um interesse crescente pela área da cognição numérica, com investigação que tem procurado cobrir os seus vários níveis de descrição, desde as origens evolutivas, passando pelo desenvolvimento ontogenético e as diferenças individuais, até aos correlatos neurais do processamento numérico. Nesta revisão selecionámos os estudos mais significativos para nos ajudarem a compreender a evolução da representação do número e como a experiência vai estimulando o cérebro a criar novos suportes para uma informação que parece ser cada vez mais relevante.
