Comunicação e cognição na era digital

Resumo

Este artigo explora a relação entre comunicação e cognição no ambiente digital contemporâneo, entendendo as estruturas cognitivas como elemento integrante do processo comunicacional e partindo do argumento de que estas são moldadas pela imersão digital. Tendo como enquadramento os conceitos de ‘infoxicação’ e de ‘bolha-filtro’, este artigo explora as noções de ‘infosaturação’ e de ‘tecno-agendamento’ como formas de entender o impacto das tecnologias digitais atuais nas estruturas cognitivas e na comunicação. As tecnologias digitais estão em mudança, passando de um paradigma centrado no utilizador para um maior enfoque na própria tecnologia, e portanto os seus efeitos refletem essas mudanças. Face ao excesso de informação e ao empoderamento possibilitados pelas tecnologias digitais, os utilizadores tendem a selecionar informação que reforça as suas crenças e opiniões prévias, bem como a aderir a sugestões de aplicações que se baseiam no registo do comportamento anterior e no cruzamento de perfis de utilizadores. Este artigo explora os efeitos destas práticas em termos do grau de atividade dos utilizadores, cada vez mais delegada na web inteligente, e também na informação com que contatam, cada vez mais redundante.
